Joint Board of Study

Mandate

The program is a joint program under the jurisdiction of the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science at the University of British Columbia and the Dean of the College of Science and Management at the University of Northern British Columbia and is administered by a joint Board of Study. The Co-Directors of the Program are responsible for the leadership and administration of the program.

The mandate of the Board of Study is to administer the program, addressing such matters as program curriculum, course equivalencies, the co-op program, student admissions, progress and transfers, program enrollments, course scheduling, and the student environment. The Board will make corresponding recommendations to the Faculty of Applied Science (UBC) and the College of Science and Management (UNBC); and it will advise the two Deans on any other matters pertaining to the development of the program.

[Normally, matters associated with individual course curricula and with course delivery, including the selection of instructors, evaluations of teaching, and student discipline relating to individual courses, initially rests with the relevant teaching units and not with the Board of Study. Also, it is noted that students will be subject to the regulations of whichever of the two universities they are attending over the duration of the program, and will have at least the same privileges as all other students in that university.]
